These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the Sponsor a Family scheme operated by Be the Light CIC (“we”, “our”, “us”). By signing up to sponsor a family, you (“you”, “the sponsor”, “the supporter”) agree to these Terms.

1. About the Sponsor a Family Scheme

  • Be the Light CIC is a registered Community Interest Company based in England and Wales.
  • Through this scheme, sponsors make regular contributions to support families experiencing prolonged hospital stays with their children.
  • With the consent of the CIC Regulator, 40% of our surplus profits are donated to Amelia’s Light, our charitable initiative. The remaining surplus is retained to sustain our operations.

2. Sponsorship Payments

  • Sponsorship is provided as a recurring contribution, taken automatically by the payment method you select.
  • Payments will continue until you cancel your sponsorship in line with Section 4 (Cancellations).
  • You will receive confirmation of your recurring payment schedule by email.
  • All payments must be made in GBP.

3. Use of Funds

  • Your contribution supports the work of Be the Light CIC, enabling us to provide financial and emotional support to families.
  • While we may highlight individual family stories, your sponsorship is a general contribution — it may not always be linked to a specific family.
  • We reserve the right to allocate funds according to the greatest need at the time.

4. Cancellations

  • You may cancel your sponsorship at any time by giving us 30 days’ written notice (email accepted).
  • Payments due within the 30-day notice period will still be collected.
  • Sponsorships automatically continue until we receive notice of cancellation.

5. Refunds

  • Sponsorship payments are considered donations and are non-refundable once collected, except where required by law.

6. Communication

  • By becoming a sponsor, you agree to receive occasional updates about the impact of your contribution.
  • You may opt out of marketing emails at any time, but we will continue to send service-related communications (e.g. receipts, notices).

7. Changes to the Scheme

  • We reserve the right to amend or withdraw the scheme at any time.
  • If significant changes are made, we will notify sponsors with at least 30 days’ notice.

8. Liability

  • Contributions are voluntary and do not create any legal entitlement to specific outcomes or services.
  • We are not liable for any indirect loss or damage related to your sponsorship, except where required by law.

9. Data Protection

  • We process your personal data in accordance with our [Privacy Policy].
  • Payment information is handled securely by third-party providers; we do not store your full payment details.

10. Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  • Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
